We know the versatile spirit of its founder, everything can change from one day to the next without warning. It was not my surprise during training to discover that last weekend, 23-24 May, the services offer Roam had been revised. Hold off !
The Starlink Mini offer with Roaming plan is now divided into two options. If the first option “ Roam 100 GB » represents a certain effort on the price, particularly attractive for occasional terrestrial users (camping-car, traveling vacation), the package “ Unlimited roaming » increases by 89 to 95 €/month. You might say it’s no big deal, but this does not bode well for the future. However the good news is that the Mini package remains at 199€, which is less than half of its launch price fall 2024 (¹).
But be careful, for smart sailors who think they can save money, the « Maritime Mode » (“Ocean” in the app) is not included in the package 100 GB ! It remains the option of the unlimited package beyond the 12 nautical miles far from the coast. As for the rest, nothing changes, international travel outside the subscription region remains limited to two months, requiring a change of address each time you change region for long-distance sailors.
It is therefore not an upheaval, but a reminder that the conditions of service can be modified at any time at the discretion of the boss.

I didn't know about this low-end package at €5/month.
I would like to know more.
I have a residential package at €29/month which has just been upgraded to 35.
Actually, Elon needs money.
Well it seems to me that the last Iridium SIM cards I bought were more than €110 for a service around 2400 bit/s with frequent interruptions (against Mega bit/s for Starlink). In addition, the subscription departure dates were necessarily calendar months.. So the Starlink package still seems very advantageous to me.
As for the recurring criticism made of M. Musk to change his conditions, it is also necessary to consider that the subscriber can change his mind each month without penalty and even keep his low-speed subscription (~500kbit/s) for 5€/month, what NO fiber operator offers.
SpaceX announced 13 billion (!) of dollars of losses accumulated these 2 years.
At a given moment, someone has to pay.
