Iridium has just announced the withdrown of the application and the service Iridium Mail & Web app in September 2025 !
We wanted to inform you that after more than a decade of service, l’application Iridium® Mail & Web will be put out of service 13 th 2025. We understand that this service has played a vital role by allowing end users to remain connected in distant places, And this decision was not taken lightly."
This decision seems to have been programmed for a long time, but the late announcement with only two months of notice leaves little time for the thousands of users for an alternative. That's not much of a customer service. ! And iridium to continue :
If you still use the application, be sure to download all important emails before this date. We have also presented other ways to stay connected in the future. To find out more and explore other solutions, Please see the site : https://www.iridium.com/mail-web-app-discontinuing-support/ "
We may note that the alternatives offered, PredictMail, XGate and OneMail, are all paid services by subscriptions, their home pages were obviously well prepared in advance.
There is always the possibility of using the function SMS-to-email of the application Iridium GO! To send/receive emails limited to 1000 Characters. On the other hand, without a dedicated application and email service, it becomes impossible to make weather maps requests to the automatic MailaSail weather responder (¹).

If Iridium wanted to throw its customers into the arms of Starlink, it couldn't do better. !

(¹) Receive graphic weather maps on iPad [Update]

To use the Irididium Go app daily 2 things are to be taken into account:
– Do not put any punctuation or accent : Your correspondent will receive illegible things ... We get used to it quickly
– Many messages are cut and the end will never happen
Despite these imperfections, this second app will still make a much appreciated service when you are offshore
Thank you Francis
What bullshit ! What contempt of users! Apart from a redemption by musk, We do not understand the reasons !
Iridium indeed loses a large very useful function for the weather.
Having additional costs with other services is bad news, the connection being already quite expensive.
I intended to keep Iridium in Starlink's spare for a transpacific, We will have to think about it 2 time.
Software like W4D, Sandy, And others will they be able to operate under these conditions ?
Weather4D and Sailgrib have direct access to their Grib server with the Iridium Go! On the other hand, requests via SAILDOCS for other satellite phones will have to go through a third -party application. Navimetrix will integrate the display of frontology weather cards via the Iridium Go!
