After updating the offer last May, with the drop in the price of the Mini dish and the increase in the “Roaming Unlimited” rate, a new kit appeared in July for France called Mini X. Nothing revolutionary, but the dish now comes with a mini Wi-Fi router in addition to the one already built-in.
The dish remains identical to the standard Starlink Mini in terms of size, of weight (1,1 kg) and electricity consumption (25 to 40 W). But what's new is that the kit includes a small, lightweight Mini Router, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, optimized for plug-and-play installation via the Starlink app.
With this router the Wi-Fi range is extended : while the Starlink Mini alone offers Wi-Fi coverage of up to 112 m², or approximately a radius less than 6 meters around the dish, the addition of the Mini router installed inside a boat extends the coverage area to 120 m², or a little more than 6 meters around the router. The Mini X therefore offers a greater effective range, by placing the router in the center of the boat, especially if the dish is fixed on a boat's stern gantry, especially if the boat is made of aluminum or steel. And this without increasing the price, for now.
Please note that the Mini Router is available on its own at the price of €60 including tax to improve the reception of a Mini antenna already installed if necessary..
