eSail4VR The cross-platform revolution

In a few days will be released the new application for Virtual Regatta eSail4VR. Developed jointly by Olivier Bouyssou (Weather4D) and Henri Laurent (SailGrib), Currently in intensive beta testing, The application will be available for the mythical race : the Route du Rhum. The real revolution lies in the fact that it works on all media !

eSail4VR on Mac (Widescreen), Windows (Macbook), Android (Samsung TabS5e), iPad (Air 3), iPhone (12 Mini)

Platform

eSail4VR runs natively under :

  • Android (V.6.0 and +)
  • iOS/iPadOS (iOS 13 up to +)
  • macOS (OS 10.14 up to +, OS 11 up to +)
  • Windows (10 up to +, ARM)

In addition, The application is synchronized in real time on all media : a routing performed on an Android smartphone will be immediately visible on the PC, and vice versa, This regardless of the media. We dreamed of it, they did it !

Just like Weather4VR and SailGrib VR, The application can be used in a basic free version with limited functions but which will still allow users to test it. A subscription of 3 Renewable month will allow access to all advanced features after a one-week free trial.

Benefits

  • Improved ergonomics and modernized user interface
  • Pivot points on routes
  • Classification by fleet and team
  • More elaborate and much faster routing algorithm
  • Cloud eSail4VR
  • Windows cross-platform synchronization, macOS (Intel and ARM), Android, iOS/iPadOS
  • Will replace Weather4VR (¹) and SailGrib VR

And then ?

The icing on the cake is that eSail4VR is only the first phase of the Future navigation app, for which Henri Laurent and Olivier Bouyssou created a joint company SOFT4SAIL. All resources will be shared : GRIB file servers, satellite images, cartography, data rate. The synchronization will be total between the different devices used thanks to a proprietary "Cloud". The app will integrate the best of SailGrib and Weather4D, and much more.

But unlike the version for Virtual Regatta, the current navigation apps of both developers will still be available on the Stores, Operational, subject to the corrections essential to the evolution of operating systems, But they will not see any more development.

However, This is a complex development, four-handed, which will still take many months before reaching our devices. Patience so…
