It had to happen one day ! iSailor users will be disappointed… in May 2018, Transas was acquired by the Finnish group Wärtsilä Corporation, a global leader in technology and markets intelligent solutions for the marine and energy. As part of the integration into Wärtsilä brand, Transas iSailor is undergoing a makeover process that you will notice in the next release. Transas iSailor becomes Wärtsilä iSailor.
In this latest version, a new annual subscription for charting service is implemented. This means that all newly purchased chart folders through the Chart Store will include a free correction service available to you for one year. The end-date of subscription will be displayed for your correction service under the folder name. As previously, Whenever a chart update is available, a star notification and an update button will be displayed in the Chart Store.
Your subscription will automatically renewed at the original purchase price, unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription period. You can cancel your subscription in the Chart Store at any time.
All previously purchased chart folders remain available and can be restored from the service through the Chart Restore function. To receive the following updates to your previously purchased charts, you'll need to subscribe to the annual updates in the Chart Store.
[Update 15/12/2018] For Christmas, Wärtsilä offers charts updates for all those installed, whatever the date. Excellent response to the outcry by users and mass mails received, "yellow oilskins" style.

iTunes will charge the payment after confirmation of purchase Subscription updates. You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal via the settings of your user account. I had bought 2 Areas France in September and October. They are now marked dice the small red star, Jean-Denis speaks with an end date of maj backdated to March 2018. No way to Renew whatever the cost !
Wartila is doubly dishonest :
Having sold an app and maps in September without any prior information on the change of ownership, brands, or commercial conditions.
Apply the retroactive changes unilaterally remove the year from maj to which any purchase of electronic cards in any supplier automatically entitles (a minima).
To claim on its website facebook that this change is' lawful US’ just shows that they are not very clear but they especially despise their customers supremely.

I have the folio « Torres Straits to Sydney » but is hesitant to renew updates.
Perhaps look at another system.
Have been using a WiFi connection to AIS Class A which has worked OK before.
(I have not updated to Wartsila) Found it was not showing AIS targets earlier this year and paid Australian $ 38.99 on the 25 Oct-18 for « Unlock AIS options ».
It is still not working!! Have contacted iSailor three!! times……no reply.
Will give it a go with the « wartsila » email address. If I don’t hear from them then,
…..give it up and search for a replacement system?!

Oh no, I have 8 NW Europe folios. I had chosen isailor over other options because even though the individual folios were expensive, I liked the layout and that all future updates included. I feel cheated because I thought I’d made an investment that would last for years. What’s worse is that it says « correction service until: 11/03/2018 » I actually bought some of my folios AFTER this date!
I just find that the situation is worse than I thought. I will not hesitate to put in Wärtsilä dishonest category (it's my opinion). Indeed, the new application presents the stars update, with off button, even if you have the latest version. This is called a Dark Pattern: a user interface designed to trick the user and encourage them to do an action against his interest (here pay for subscription update when we do not have one yet need).

two cases:
– the previously purchased cards (even last week) are no longer free updates. To receive updates, you must pay a subscription update. At the end of this subscription, it is automatically renewed for the same price (except unilateral price change of publisher). If we terminate this subscription, can continue to use the latest version * updated * with termination.
– newly purchased cards actually never purchased but rented. At the end of the subscription period, if it cancels the subscription, *it completely ceases to have access *, even in non-updated version.
Obviously, this point is deliberately left in the dark by the publisher. But if this was not the case, they would not write that the possibility of using the cards after termination concerns previously purchased cards to change model.

You only have to subscribe for yearly updates. You can use your charts as long as you want without update it.

Yes, the formerly acquired cards are kept, even without update. They may even be restored on another device. Future cards also.
