In an article updated in August 2020 (¹), I described nautical works in digital format that can be usefully saved on iPad in the Apple Books application. Among them, I mentioned the Météo-France books available in PDF format for free download from their documentary portal.
In the "Courses and Manuals" section of this site, a new book can be downloaded, Published in 2020, entitled " Meteorological Observations and Measurements – Volume 1 / Clouds and other meteors ”, A wealth of information about clouds, and all associated weather phenomena, which are called "meteors" (²). Since the publication of the division D240 replaced, applicable from 6 May 2019 (see my previous article), it is now official that mandatory nautical documents can be taken on board in digital form.

A growing number of boaters now uses an iPad at sea. But offshore, when no network connection is available, and therefore no more internet access, how to access the various help or technical instructions concerning the tools used ?

With the arrival of iOS 12 and MacOS 10.14 "Mojave" the Apple iBooks app disappears to make way for "Books". The user interface is completely changed, and for authors, a conformity of the works is imposed. The application wins certainly not in ergonomics, we feel a desire to put commercial emphasis on the books in the interface, and Access to updates gets complicated.
